Rebecca Maxwell is a Cleveland girl through and through. She has an Instagram following of nearly 35K, and is the owner of She’s Company and Two One Thrift. Growing up in Cleveland Heights, Maxwell always had a passion for capturing memories through taking photos.
“In high school one year, they didn’t really have a yearbook committee, so they reached out to me and were like ‘Hey can we take some photos from your Myspace?,’” Maxwell said, “I was [always] taking pictures.”
Maxwell first moved to downtown Cleveland ten years ago. In her first apartment, she and her roommate hosted a house warming party, inviting both of their friends. Maxwell wanted to form a community to create meaningful friendships, as it is often more difficult for women to make friends as you get older.

“As adults, all have such limited time and freedom. So if I can get all my friends together at the same time, that's great,” Maxwell said.
Maxwell admits that she has always loved hosting parties and events – a trait that she inherited from her parents.
“My parents would throw annual parties, just for fun. It was kind of embedded in me,” Maxwell said. “I go all out on a theme. Everything has to make sense.”

In this apartment, Maxwell continued to host more and more gatherings, consisting of charcuterie board nights and themed parties. Eventually Maxwell's circle grew until she could not host in her apartment anymore.
It was then Maxwell realized that she could start a tight-knit organization for women to find their community. Since she was struggling with what to call the company, this plan took many years.
Finally, in March of 2024, She’s Company was made official.
She’s Company puts on several events throughout the year – from book swaps, to colored themed parties and anything in between. Venues are mainly based in the Cleveland area and each event hosts several vendors, mainly of women-owned brands and companies. The main mission of She’s Company is to connect women and form a community of support.

“I just love women. There’s nothing better than when I look around the room and I see all these women that didn’t know each other, interacting and laughing and being themselves,” Maxwell said.
A key element of She’s Company centers around supporting women’s companies. Maxwell shared that many women-owned vendors have been partnering with She’s Company since the start.
“A huge aspect to it is the vendors,” Maxwell said, “It’s not only about supporting women that show up to the events, it's about supporting women-owned businesses."

Recently, She’s Company hosted a “Pretty in Pink” party on Feb. 28 at Sora in Cleveland. This event encouraged women to sport a pink outfit and mingle with women, support vendors and enjoy complimentary appetizers and cocktail samples.
Hannah Bozsoki, owner of Hooked Jewelry, has been a vendor at She’s Company events since its conception in 2023.
“I actually reached out to [Rebecca] when I saw she was creating this company, and I DM’d her on Instagram. I was one of her first vendors,” Bozsoki said. “I’ve stuck with her for these three years and now we’ve become, like, best friends.”
Bozsoki estimates that she’s been a vendor at almost a hundred She’s Company events and thinks the company is important as a vendor and as an attendee.
“This community will bring anyone together. You can come alone, you can come with a group of friends and you will leave with more friends,” she said.
Bozsoki also acknowledges the incredible opportunities She’s Company has given her and other women-owned businesses to support themselves and their businesses.
“It’s [only] woman-owned businesses that come to these events, so we just all chat and communicate on future events that we can [collaborate] with and it benefits everyone in every way,” Bozsoki said.

Bridgette Watkins has been an ambassador of House of Suntory, a Japanese whiskey and spirits company, for three years. Watkins has seen firsthand the freedom She’s Company is able to present to women.
“It gives women a chance to take a lead,” Watkins said. “Here you have so many people willing to support that.”
She’s Company events are a diverse mix of frequent attendees and first timers looking for friends, community and fun.
She’s Company first timer, Jessie, attended the Pretty In Pink event with three of her friends, and previous coworkers she had not seen in a long time.
“It’s just a good excuse to get together,” Jessie said. “This looks like a lot of fun.”

She’s Company is constantly welcoming new faces to join their community and uncover connections with women of Cleveland.
Zhane Walters has attended several gatherings with She’s Company – the Pretty in Pink party being her fifth event attended.
“Everybody is so nice. I’m here by myself right now and I’ve talked to quite a few people,” Walters said.
Walters has made multiple friends through attending these events, with many relationships that exceed the realm of She’s Company.
As a woman, Walters appreciates discovering woman-owned businesses and vendors that she had not known of previously through She’s Company.
“It has helped me discover all these women vendors,” Walters said. “I always try to support [...] that, so it's nice to connect and follow them after [the events.]”

The majority of Maxwell's events invite women of all ages, with certain exceptions due to drinking events such as bar crawls.
Since its official start in 2024, She’s Company participants have doubled in size. They offer a wide variety of events for women with a wide array of different interests, from book swaps to star sign-themed birthday celebrations.
Maxwell hopes to continue to grow She’s Company and expand into other cities to continue empowering women far and wide.
