Cleveland Summer Music Events
With summer right around the corner, you’re probably combing your brain for ideas to do, see, and experience. We’ve put together a list of tours and festivals hitting the Cleveland area that you might want to check out on a night where you’re searching for something to do.
The fifth annual Spring Fling will take place June 2 and 3 at the Agora in Cleveland. The two-day festival will feature Andrew McMahon In The Wilderness, The Front Bottoms, The Wonder Years and The Mowgli's as headliners. Tigers Jaw, Tiny Moving Parts, Heart Attack Man, Many Rooms, and The Wrecks will also perform during the two days. The annual music festival is organized by a local concert programming company, BravoArtist. If you enjoy alternative rock and pop punk, Spring Fling is the perfect local event to see your favorites and find new upcoming bands.
Vans Warped Tour
In November, it was announced that the 2018 Vans Warped Tour would be the final, full cross-country run for the music festival. It is the largest traveling music festival in the states and is the longest-running touring festival in North America. The festival was created by Kevin Lyman in 1995, as a result of his desire to have his own show of mixing music and action sports after spending many years in the music industry. The festival will feature bands, such as: 3OH!3, Bowling For Soup, Knuckle Puck, Mayday Parade, State Champs, Movements, The Used, August Burns Red, Don Broco, and Wage War this summer. The tour always has many non-profits each summer to shine light on issues and provide resources needed. To Write Love on Her Arms, Music Saves Lives, Feed The Children Now, Keep a Breast, Hope For The Day, and A Voice for the Innocent are just a few off the list of the over 90 non-profits. The festival will hit the area on July 18th at Blossom Music Center in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. It is the perfect time to spend the day out in the sun, enjoy music, and see the community that has been built over the years.
LaurelLive is a two day music, arts, and culinary festival at Laurel School’s 140-acre Butler Campus, located in Russell and Chester Townships. The all-ages, family-friendly festival will take place June 9 and 10. Laurel School is an all-girls, K-12 independent school in Shaker Heights, Ohio. The festival will feature performances from Foster The People. Fitz & The Tantrums, X AMBASSABORS, Daya, Lights, and flor. In addition to music, there is attention given to the culinary and family aspects of the event. They provide first-class culinary and artisan experiences as well as children’s activities and educational events appropriate for the whole family.
Taking Back Sunday & Coheed and Cambria
Rock bands Taking Back Sunday and Coheed and Cambria will be going on a co-headlining tour this summer, along with pop punk band The Story So Far as support. The tour will hit the area on July 29th at Jacobs Pavilion at Nautica in The Flats.
Edgewater Live has been known hit Cleveland’s Edgewater beach for 10 weeks every Thursday night from June all the way through August. The event is sponsored by Tri-C Cuyahoga Community College and Wayside Furniture. Edgewater Live has taken place for the last 4 years and has only been rumored to continue this summer so far. So, keep an eye out for live music on the beach accompanied by food trucks, if you’re feeling bored on a Thursday night.
Homesafe At Mahall’s
This tour is truly a treat, Homesafe is a rock band from Illinois, and if you’re looking for a great show in an intimate setting stop searching because you found it. Homesafe’s lineup include Ryan Rumchaks, who also plays in pop-punk band Knuckle Puck. The show is at Mahall’s on July 20 presented by BravoArtist. Supporting acts include Hot Mulligan, Heart Attack Man and Jetty Bones, all incredibly talented acts worth seeing this summer.
Dance Gavin Dance At The Agora Theatre
Dance Gavin Dance is a post-hardcore band from California, while their music sways more towards the harder side, they still have a melodic charm and graceful stage presents worth seeing. The show is is presented by AEG and begins at 6:00 P.M. on June 13. Supporting acts include I See Stars, ERRA and Sianvar.
Attila, Rage Fest
Attila is a metal-core band from Georgia and if you’re looking for a show full of shock value and a party atmosphere this is the one for you. Catch them at the Agora Theatre on July 22 at 6 P.M.. The show is presented by Sound Drink, supporting acts include Suicide Silence, Volumes, Rings Of Saturn and Cross Your Fingers.
Taylor Swift Reputation Stadium Tour
Taylor Swift is a pop star from Pennsylvania, whether she’s your kind of music or not, her stage presence is fierce and is definitely worth seeing this summer. Swift will be at the FirstEnergy Stadium on July 17 starting at 7 P.M.. supporting acts include Camila Cabello and Charli XCX.
